5 Tips for preparing for your corporate business portraits & headshots
A corporate portrait that you are using for profile pictures on Teams or LinkedIn profile is more than just a picture. It is your chance to connect with your audience on a human level and tell a bit more about yourself. Are you friendly? Or on the contrary, is it better to be well-prepared before asking something when you are busy?
Show it on your profile image.
Business headshots will follow you everywhere — in your everyday mail, in the exciting presentations in a new audience, and in professional booklets for your customers. Even your ex-neighbour can find you! Let’s present in the best way.
Feeling pressure? Breathe out and follow some tips to prepare yourself for the photo session based on my experience as a professional photographer in Munich.

1 Choose wardrobe wisely
Select clothes that align with your industry and personal brand that you would like to express.
Let’s come back to your desired image. Do you want to show yourself as a strict person?
A well-tailored jacket or shirt always adds a polished touch.
Soft? Play with some textile textures. Even a sweater can be great.
As a professional photographer, I always advise selecting neutral colours and avoiding logos and busy prints.
2 Take care of the details
Do you want to express your passion in small details? A brooch can be a great highlight.
Don’t want to show your surfing passion to the broad audience of your clients? Don’t forget to take it off.
3 Hairstyle, makeup and grooming
Small details make a big difference in photos.
For men, ensure that you trimmed or freshly shaved as you want.
For women, natural and minimal makeup works best. Keep in mind that the camera always “eats” or takes away some of your make-up. So yes, it should be natural as you like to appear for business purposes, but still bright for a camera. Highlighting eyes and eyebrows is always a great idea.
Avoid experimenting with new styles right before the photo session.

3. Be well-rested and hydrated
I know it sounds luxury already. Try to get a good night’s sleep before the planned photo session. Staying hydrated (always great) some days in advance and it can improve your skin’s appearance.
Didn’t work as planned? Don’t worry — we will do our best to have a great business portrait anyway.

4. Practice expressions and poses
If you’re unsure about how to pose, practice in front of a mirror. Experiment with expressions that feel natural to you—a warm smile or a confident, relaxed look works well for corporate headshots.
During photo session, we will take several shots and choose together. See some examples of my work. You can definitely say that people look great and relaxed.
5. Communicate with me as your Photographer
You can always say your desires and how you would like to appear. We can change a pose, or hairstyle and see how you like the shot in the end.
